Toward a Harris Victory: How to Respond to MAGA's Anti-LGBTQ Messaging
A paragraph, a video, and a quiz. Take your pick
On TV, radio or online, you’ve probably encountered the Trump campaign’s $120 million anti-trans ads. If you have an opportunity to speak to someone about this — privately or publicly — and if you want to say something that will help a Harris victory, here are a few ways to persuade them.
‘Call out what you’re against’ but don’t ‘feed what you’re fighting’
Anat Shenker-Osorio, a political strategist and messaging expert, gave this advice yesterday on “Five things Harris — and you — can do to close the deal,” published on The Ink. She recommends that we say:
No matter our colors, our origins, our genders, most of us want to shine bright and be able to be our authentic selves. But these MAGA Republicans, same as it ever was, they're a bunch of bullies. They want to send us into the shadows. They want to take away our freedoms. They want to control our families, and they want to decide our futures for us. They want to pass off the wealth our work creates to hand it to their billionaire buddies and tell us what we can do, who we can love, what we can wear.
We say no. We call BS on them. We're choosing each other. We know that this is what fascists do. They try to turn us against each other and have us pointing our fingers in the wrong direction.
MAGA’s narrative is that the problems you experience are “because of those people” and that they’ll “protect you from those people.”
Don’t concede that point, even partially. Don’t say that migrants or trans people are a problem. Run against Trump, not against your neighbors.
Help people “recognize that the danger comes from MAGA and not from migrants. From Trump, and not from trans people. From fascism, and not from feminism.”
Give them this simple quiz to show them who REALLY supports the policies that they support
If the race were solely about meaningful policies, Harris would win in a landslide. The Washington Post just published an interactive quiz that makes this point. If you give this quiz to Trumpers and Undecideds, they will discover they actually agree with Harris MORE than they do with Trump. That’s because voters — whether they know it or not — overwhelmingly prefer the vice president’s agenda to the former president’s.
These eight questions were drawn randomly from a recent YouGov survey, which blind-tested voters on more than 100 policy proposals.
If you take this quiz HERE, online through the article, you’ll find out which candidate you REALLY support. This is a GIFT link, https://wapo.st/48qgbON

The basic message is: The choice is clear. Our rights, our families, and our lives are on the ballot. So, please vote.

This wasn’t an accident. It was the point. It’s what MAGA was built on—a message to the white, the bitter, and the fearful that their ginned up anger is a rallying cry, a political stance, and a weapon. It's a promise that America belongs to them and no one else. It’s why Trump’s rallies don’t even try to reach beyond his hardcore base. The sad part is that, for as many reasonably-minded people as he'll lose because of this abomination, he'll gain just as many who want nothing more than a fourth Reich.
